In the Water Margin
Ou Peng comes from Huangzhou, where he served as a soldier guarding the Yangtze. After offending his commanding officer he fled into the greenwood and made a name for himself as Cloud-Scraping Golden Wings. He becomes the first chief of Mount Huangmen, sharing the stronghold with Jiang Jing, Ma Lin and Tao Zongwang.
After the rescue at Jiangzhou, Song Jiang's party passes Mount Huangmen on its way back to Liangshan. The four chiefs come down not to rob them but to pay their respects: they have long admired Song Jiang and ask to follow him. Ou Peng joins Liangshan with them and takes seat forty-eight beneath the Dikuo star.
