In the Water Margin
Zheng Tianshou comes from Suzhou and earned his living as a silversmith. Pale and handsome, he is called Fair-Faced Gentleman. He has practised spear and staff since boyhood and drifted onto the roads, and passing Qingfeng Mountain he fights Wang Ying for fifty or sixty bouts without either man winning.
Yan Shun, impressed, asks him to stay, and he becomes the mountain's third chief. He is there when Song Jiang is brought in as a prisoner and recognized, and he follows Yan Shun and Wang Ying to Liangshan. He takes seat seventy-four beneath the Diyi star.
