In the Water Margin
Wei Dingguo is the other garrison commander of Lingzhou, a master of fire attacks who leads troops armed with fire weapons and is known as General of Divine Fire. Marching with Shan Tinggui against Liangshan's army under Guan Sheng, he drives back the attackers with fire, but while he is in the field Li Kui and his new companions fall on Lingzhou from behind.
With his city lost and Shan Tinggui already on Liangshan's side, Wei Dingguo withdraws to Zhongling County. When Shan Tinggui comes to persuade him, he answers that he will yield only if Guan Sheng invites him in person. Guan Sheng rides out alone, and Wei Dingguo surrenders. He takes seat forty-five beneath the Dimeng star, and later dies beside Shan Tinggui in a pit trap at Shezhou.
